Two members of the Kane girls track and field team and 10 members of the boysâ€™ team left this morning for the PIAA Championship meet, which will be held on Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg University.
LUDLOW â€“ The Ludlow Community Association held its 10th Annual Childrenâ€™s Fishing Derby on May 18 at Wildcat Park. The day was enjoyed by many family and friends, with roughly 200 individuals in attendance.
Kane area Democrats on Tuesday gave solid support to Tom Wolf, who will be opposing incumbent Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in the Nov. 4 race for governor.
BROOKVILLE â€“ The Kane girlsâ€™ track and field team finished third out of 21 teams that competed at Fridayâ€™s District 9 AA meet in Brookville. The Kane girls finished with 57 points, behind ECC with 105.5 and Johnsonburg with 103. Two Lady Wolves finished in the top two in their events to advance to next weekâ€™s PIAA tournament.
BROOKVILLE â€“ The Kane boys track and field team won their third straight District 9 AA title on Friday at Brookville. Four Wolves earned the right to compete in individual events next week at the PIAA Tournament in Shippensburg, while two Kane relay teams also placed in the top two to advance to the state meet.
Members of the Kane track and field teams travel to Brookville today to compete in the District 9 AA Championships. The top two finishers in each event qualify for next weekâ€™s PIAA Championship meet in Shippensburg. Athletes not in first or second place may also qualify for the state tournament if they reach a certain standard at the district meet. The Kane boys are the defending champions.
The Johnsonburg Ramettes and Kane Lady Wolves played five innings in a steady drizzle on Thursday at Flickerwood Field. The game was the final one of the regular season for the Johnsonburg squad and the final home game of the season for the Lady Wolves. The Ramettes exploded for 13 runs in the third inning and went on to win 21-6.
Unbeaten Elk County Catholic (ECC) pounded out 12 hits Wednesday in defeating Kane High School 11-1 at Pat Santilli Field in Kane.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders exploded for 13 runs in the second and third innings of Wednesday afternoonâ€™s game against Kane on the Lady Wolvesâ€™ home field. The Lady Crusaders used good pitching, timely hitting and patience at the plate in getting the 17-0 win in five innings.
What little boys dream ofâ€¦ one little boy had a dream of greatness, of being a champion.
As the course of this little boyâ€™s childhood took shape thatâ€™s exactly what happened from junior wrestling to junior hight and finally, a state champion was crown. Evan Delong started this course over 10 years ago and now as he prepares to advance to live another part of this dream, a collegiate wrestler for the Division I Clarion Eagles. Evan is looking forward to this phase in his life.
