PUNXSUTAWNEY â€“ It was an extra special winning moment for Quinn Luhr in the PIAA quarterfinal.
After keeping Johnsonburg baseball even with Bishop McCort, Luhr's RBI single in the bottom of the 11th helped the Rams to a 7-6, 11-inning victory over the Crushers Thursday at Rich Kuntz Memorial Field in Punxsutawney.
The Kane All Sports Boosters Club held their 2013 award cCeremony on Wednesday night in the Kane High School Auditorium.
The Kane Lady Wolvesâ€™ softball team had their season come to a disappointing end earlier this week when they lost a marathon 12-inning contest with the Port Allegany Lady Gators in the first round of the PIAA Class A playoffs.
SHIPPENSBURG â€“ Kaneâ€™s Morgan Nicholson threw the javelin 132â€™ 10â€ť during Saturdayâ€™s PIAA AA Championship Meet at Shippensburg University. The throw placed the Lady Wolvesâ€™ junior fourth in the state and earned her a medal. Nicholson also competed in the shot put, which was held immediately after the javelin on Saturday.
SHIPPENSBURG â€“ Twelve members of the Kane boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ track teams made the journey to the PIAA Championship Meet to compete with the best athletes in Pennsylvania. Two members of the team, Nick Anderson and Sean Rolick, placed in the top eight in the state to earn medals. The PIAA meet began Friday morning at Shippensburg University on an unseasonably cold, windy day.
Six members of the Kane boysâ€™ track and field team and six members of the girlsâ€™ team head to the PIAA Championship meet today. Competition begins on Friday morning at Shippensburg University with some of the best high school athletes in the country competing for state medals.

You have enough bullets to start another war, a knife in every pocket, a super duty GPS letting you know if you move an inch or so, food in every pocket, night vision goggles, and all you need is the perfect shot, which should be easy, since your scope can see all the way to Alaska.
The Kane Lady Wolves softball teamâ€™s season came to a heartbreaking end on Monday when the Lady Wolves lost to Port Allegany in 12 innings on a close play at the plate.
The Kane High School boys track and field team came away with the District IX Class AA Championship for the second consecutive year, with some outstanding performances by the Kane boys. Because of their efforts, Kane will be advancing six boys on to the state championship meet to be held this Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg University.Â
The Kane girlsâ€™ track and field team finished second in Fridayâ€™s District IX AA Championship meet with 73 points, behind Brookville who took the team title with 98 points.
