We are now in my favorite season of the year, spring. From a nature photographer’s standpoint, this is the best and most exciting time to get outdoors with a camera. Spring migrations, nesting, denning and most notability the increased activity of all wildlife, brings any nature photographer out of hibernation. This spring in particular I am anxious to get out and about after nursing a bad foot for a few weeks this winter. My signs of spring are the arrivals of the red-winged blackbirds and turkey vultures.

Wolves baseball team drops doubleheader to Cardinals

The Kane Wolves lost both ends of a doubleheader to DuBois Central Catholic on Monday at Pat Santilli Field. The Wolves, who played two games on Saturday, lost 14-4 in the opener and 12-6 in the nightcap.
The first game was a continuation of a game that began in mid-April. Monday’s contest began with Jeff Kocjancic on second base with one out. DCC starting pitcher Phil Myers, the team’s ace, kept the Wolves off the scoreboard in his three innings on the mound.

Peterson hurls 2-hit shutout in Wolves win over Elkers

The Kane Wolves’ baseball team played an unconventional double header on Saturday after at Pat Santilli Field. The Wolves shutout the Ridgway Elkers 9-0 in the first game, then took on the Curwensville Golden Tide in the nightcap and lost 11-4.

Over 250 participate in Special Olympics at Kane High track

Over 250 Special Olympics athletes from throughout McKean County met at Kane Area High School on Wednesday to compete in the 39th annual Special Olympics/Zippo Track & Field Meet.

Lady Wolves Lose to Sheffield 13-10 in Road Game

The Kane softball team dropped a 13-10 decision to the Sheffield Lady Wolverines on Wednesday afternoon in Sheffield.

Kane boys track wraps up undefeated season

The Kane Boys’ Track and Field team put the finishing touches on an undefeated dual meet season with victories over Elk County Catholic (105-51) and Johnsonburg (105-25) on Tuesday afternoon in St Marys.

Kane baseball team defeats Rams 11-7

The Kane Wolves baseball team defeated the Johnsonburg Rams 11-7 on Tuesday at Pat Santilli Field. The win was the first of the season for the Wolves, who were playing in only their second home game of 2014.

Kane softball team drops doubleheader to Lady Tide

May 5, 2014

The Kane softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to the Curwensville Golden Tide on Monday at Flickerwood Field. The Lady Wolves, playing in their first game in two weeks and their first home contests since April 10, dropped the first game 10-0 in six innings and lost to the Lady Tide 11-1 in the nightcap, also in six innings.

Kane girls finish 6th at Altoona WCC Track Meet

The Kane girls’ track and field team traveled to Altoona’s Mansion Park on Friday evening to take part in the West Central Coaches Track Championship meet. The Lady Wolves finished in sixth place out of the 30 competing AA schools with 41 points. The Johnsonburg girls finished in first place in AA.

Kane boys take 3rd at Altoona WCC Track Championship

The Kane boys’ track and field team placed in 11 of 18 events at Friday’s West Central Coaches Track and Field Championship. The Wolves finished in third place out of 37 AA teams at the meet, which took place Friday evening at Altoona’s Mansion Park.
