Kane wrestling earns road victory over Ridgway

RIDGWAY – Kane wrestling won 41-27 over Ridgway in a dual meet held Thursday night at Ridgway Area High School.
The Wolves made their seven match wins count, earning maximum points in six of them with four forfeits and two pinfalls. The Wolves also earned a technical fall.

Wolves drop season finale to Gators

The Port Allegany Gators came to town on Thursday night to close out the Wolves’ season in a game postponed from early December. The Wolves led early but the Gators outscored the home team down the stretch to take the win, 54-48, ending Kane’s season at 7-15.

"Little Wolves" basketball

Members of this year's Kane "Little Wolves" basketball program are pictured along with their instructors, members of the Kane Middle School boys' basketball team. The group attended a recent KAHS game and performed some of their drills at halftime of the junior varsity game. The camp was under the direction of Kane boys' middle school coach Matt Gasbarre.

Wolves lose in OT on Senior Night

The Kane Wolves lost to the Curwensville Golden Tide 66-61 in overtime on Senior Night in a game rescheduled from last Friday. Players AJ Stefani, Sean Rolick and Dan Park were honored prior to the game, along with senior statisticians Jessica Szymanski and Kyla Hoag.

Kane Cheer Club has positive weekend

The Kane Cheer Club had a very positive weekend. Although it didn’t start out on a good note, with a less than stellar showing at the Penn State Behrend Spirit Against Cancer competition, it finished on a high note with a first place, spirit award win and highest overall score at the Ultimate Spirit Spectacular in Emporium.

Adventures of a wildlife photographer "Hidden Alaska - part 15"

This is the 15th and last installment of my photographic trip to the wilds of Alaska. I’m now in my final day in Katmai National Park, home for over 2,000 brown bears. I have made this trip to finally see and photograph the brown bears, and along the way got to see an amazing assortment of wildlife and scenic beauty. This was indeed, the trip of a lifetime.

Warren spoils Kane Senior Night

The Kane Lady Wolves lost a hard-fought game to Warren on Thursday night in the Wolves’ Den, 42-31.
Seven Lady Wolves played their final regular season game on the court but the Lady Dragons pulled away in the final four minutes to hand Kane its fourth loss on the season.

Kane wrestlers win at Johnsonburg

JOHNSONBURG – Kane wrestling won 45-21 in a dual meet at Johnsonburg Area High School Thursday night.
Seth Woolcock won the opening bout by forfeit at 113 pounds for the Wolves for a 6-0 lead. Cody Blankenship then had little trouble in the 120-pound match as he pinned Devin Mann of Johnsonburg in a time of 1:45 which upped the Kane lead to 12-0.
Jon Gelsick scored Kane's third bout in a row as he pinned Johnny Ferragine in a time of 1:05 in the 126-pound weight class.

Wolves hurt playoff chances with loss to Rovers

The Kane Wolves boys’ varsity basketball team started out hot in Wednesday night’s game against the Brockway Rovers. The Wolves led by as many as eight in the first quarter and 12 in the second before a big third quarter by the Rovers gave the visitors a slim lead going into the fourth quarter in the Wolves’ Den.
Brockway took advantage of a few late Kane turnovers and hit their free throws down the stretch to leave with the hard-fought 72-64 victory.

Kane girls improve to 17-3 with romp over Lady Rovers

BROCKWAY – The Kane Lady Wolves basketball team used some suffocating defense to propel themselves to a big 54-17 win over the Brockway Lady Rovers on Tuesday night on the road.
