The Kane Area Middle School wrestlers got five forfeits and won five of six matches on the mat on their way to crushing the Coudersport Falcons 54-3 on Tuesday night in the Wolvesâ€™ Den.
The young Wolves followed up last weekendâ€™s first-place finish at the Port Allegany Tournament with a dominating night against an undermanned Coudersport team. Lane Hillard, Christian Whisner, Alec English and Ty Stahli were all crowned champions at the Port tourney, while teammates Noah Blankenship, Cameron Whisner, Adam Sicher, Nate Asp and James Fleming were runners-up.
The Kane Wolves boysâ€™ basketball team hosted the Smethport Hubbers in a non-league game on Monday night. Coach Matt Gasbarreâ€™s Wolves outscored the visitors 13-2 to close out the first quarter and went on to post a 52-34 win.
Sophomore Dalton Palmer put Smethport on the scoreboard first after putting back up an offensive rebound. Kane sophomore Andrew Bucheit scored the next two baskets for the Wolves in the paint, the first coming on a nice entry pass from Davis Gardner.

The Ridgway Elkers used a big second quarter to pull away from the Kane Wolves in boysâ€™ basketball action in the Wolvesâ€™ Den on Friday night. The visitors led by two after one quarter but put up 17 points in the second while holding the Wolves scoreless during the quarter to take a big lead into the locker room and went on to win 47-27.
Kane girls basketball had plenty of chances from the foul line and took advantage of enough of them to take a 44-27 win over Ridgway Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Kane was 22 for 38 from the foul line while Ridgway was just 2 for 5. Ridgway didn't shoot a free throw until the second half.
The teams were tied at 4-4 after one quarter and traded buckets to open the second quarter as a Gabrielle Barclay field goal was followed by a Sydney Dyne hoop to tie the game at 6-all with 6:42 left before halftime.
The Kane Lady Wolves went into the locker room of Monday nightâ€™s game against DuBois Central Catholic holding a 22-15 lead. Unfortunately for the Lady Wolves, the third quarter continued to be a problem for them as the Lady Cardinals outscored the home team 15-4 in the period on their way to posting a 45-34 win.
The Kane girls jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead against DCC. Sophomore Camryn Cummings scored the Lady Wolvesâ€™ first five points, the first two coming in the paint on a nice entry pass from Sydney Dyne and the others coming on a three-point play after an assist by Emily Truden.
The Kane Wolves went on the road last Friday to face a tough Cameron County team in boys basketball action. The Wolves battled for four quarters but came up short against the Red Raiders, 56-39.
Coach Matt Gasbarreâ€™s Wolves led the 7-1 Raiders 10-8 after one and only trailed by a basket at halftime. The Emporium squad outscored the Kane boys 14-5 in the third on their way to the win.
ST. MARYS â€“ The Elk County Catholic Crusader basketball team faced off against the Kane Wolves on Saturday night in a game that was originally scheduled for Dec. 12, 2014, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The weather was not the best on Saturday either as icy conditions may have played a role in a somewhat low turnout at the ECCHS gymnasium. The Crusaders won the game 72-25.

The Kane boysâ€™ varsity basketball team rebounded from a Friday night loss to the hosts to win Saturdayâ€™s consolation game of the North Clarion Holiday Tournament against AC Valley. The Wolvesâ€™ junior varsity team won the title with wins over North Clarion and AC Valley.
Both the Kane varsity and Lady Wolvesâ€™ junior varsity teams won their consolation matchup against the Eisenhower Lady Knights in Saturdayâ€™s First Annual Kane Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament. The Lady Wolves varsity team squeaked out a 50-49 win over Ike while the junior varsity jumped out to a 19-6 halftime lead and cruised to a 38-16 win over the Warren County squad.
