The St. Marys Dutchmen boysâ€™ soccer team dominated a weary Kane team on Tuesday afternoon on the Wolvesâ€™ home field. The Dutchmen scored twice in the first 25 minutes and added three more second half goals to leave McKean County with the 5-0 win.
RIDGWAY â€“ The Lady Elkers scored the first three points of the match, two points coming on Dani Shirey tips. Ridgway scored three straight points on two Kane errors and a Mandie Leithner kill. After the teams split the next four points, the Lady Wolves and Lady Elkers exchanged 3-0 runs to leave Ridgway up 11-7. At 15-11, the Lady Elkers scored three straight points on a Leithner kill and two Gabby Wolff aces which left Ridgway ahead 18-11. Kane cut the margin to 21-17 and 24-20 but a hit out of bounds ultimately gave Ridgway the first set, 25-21.
The Kane Wolves boysâ€™ soccer team led for most of the game but the visiting Ridgway Elkers tied the game up late in regulation and found the back of the net with two minutes left in the second overtime period to escape Kane with the 3-2 win.
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch soccer team got back into the win column on Monday afternoon by shutting out the Kane Lady Wolves 3-0 in a match played at the SMAHS soccer field.
The Kane Lady Wolves fielded two separate squads in Saturdayâ€™s Kane junior varsity volleyball tournament. The 2013 roster has six sophomores and nine freshman on the team, with only four juniors and two seniors rounding out the squad. Coach Judy Kessler and coach Rae El Johnson each had teams competing on Saturday.
The Kane Wolves boys soccer team has had a rough start to the season. Coach Ernie Chamberlainâ€™s team opened up with four straight road games before opening their home slate on Saturday morning against the Coudersport Falcons.
The Kane Wolves scored early and often in Friday nightâ€™s 35-8 win over the Otto-Eldred Terrors at Paul R Miller Stadium. The Wolves, now 3-0 on the season, scored on their first four offensive possessions while the defense held Otto, who scored 54 points last week, to a lone touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
LUDLOW -- For years, Lori Moore of Ludlow has watched her daughter, Meghan and her son, Nathan compete in various sports for Kane High School.
The Kane Wolves defense has been outstanding so far in 2013. The Wolves defense has only allowed six points in two games. Both the Sheffield and Port Allegany offenses together could not break the century mark against the Kane â€śDâ€ť.
The Kane Lady Wolves volleyball team defeated the visiting Sheffield Lady Wolverines in three sets on Thursday night, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-17.
Coach Judy Kesslerâ€™s young squad, which boasts three freshmen in the starting lineup, evened their record at 2-2 with the win.
