The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders rebounded from a Wednesday night loss to Johnsonburg with a resounding 47-32 win over the Kane Lady Wolves. Kaneâ€™s only lead of the night came after the gameâ€™s first basket. ECC coach Ken Pistnerâ€™s squad outscored the home team 13-1 the rest of the first quarter on their way to the victory.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader basketball team picked up their first victory of the season in front of a home crowd on Friday night as they defeated the Kane Wolves 66-48 at the ECCHS gymnasium.
The Crusaders led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, 32-23 at the half, and 48-31 at the end of the third quarter.
On Sunday, Dec. 9, the dancers at Studio K held their second annual Student Choreography Concert at the Kane Community Center. Eighteen dances were performed.
At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Kane High School, Nikky's Dance Studio Competition Team will present "We Need a Little Christmas."
SMETHPORT â€“ The Kane Lady Wolvesâ€™ basketball team opened the 2012-2013 season with a 54-28 win over the Smethport Lady Hubbers on Monday night. Both squads started out slowly with Kane leading 4-2 midway through the first quarter before the Lady Wolves turned it on and outscored the Hubs 10-3 in the final three minutes of the opening quarter.
The Kane boysâ€™ basketball teams opened their seasons on Friday night at the Keystone Tip-off Tournament. The Wolvesâ€™ junior varsity team began their season on a high note, defeating the host team by a score of 49-44. Jack Kocjancic led the young Wolves with 10 points, followed by Tyler Weidenhoff and Chris Udovich with eight points each and Andey Bundy with seven.
The Kane boys' junior varsity team placed second at the Keystone Tip-off Tournament held this past weekend. The Wolves defeated the Keystone Panthers 49-44 to earn a spot in the championship game where they lost to DuBois. Andy Bundy and Jack Kocjancic were selected to the All-tournament team.
The Kane Wolves wrestling team finished their 2011-2012 regular season with a 14-1 record and won their first Allegheny Mountain League title.
Coach Dave Kiehl enters his fifth season as head coach of the Kane Lady Wolves with the bulk of last yearâ€™s team returning. Seven players will be suiting up for their senior season on the hardwood, along with four juniors. The 2011-2012 Lady Wolves finished the season 20-9, losing to WPIAL top seed Vincentian 62-60 in overtime in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs.
Kane boysâ€™ basketball head coach Brian Wymer has four starters returning from last yearâ€™s squad. The 2011-2012 Wolves finished the season 2-20 but Wymer is cautiously optimistic about this season.
