March 30th, 2015
The Kane Varsity Competition Cheerleaders recently ended their season by attending Cheer LTD Nationals in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on March 20-22.
The team finished second runner-up in the Small Varsity Division and also finished sixth runner-up in the Small Varsity Non-Tumble Division.
This years girls track team is made up of 29 athletes and while the team has talented girls at each of the 18Â events, they are still lacking depth at the mile and two-mile distance runs this season.
The Kane boys high school track team will be trying for their fourth consecutive District 9 track title.
"Winning a single district title is a difficult task, to win four in a row will be a daunting task, but it is our goal," said Kane head boys track coach Tom Cecchetti. "We lost some very valuable athletes due to graduation, most notably Chris Hunt, Nathan Moore, and Bailey Colson."

The Midwest Regional final was held at Quickens Loan Arena this year. The undefeated
Kentucky Wildcats came in as heavy favorites to move on to the Final Four in
Indianapolis. That didn’t stop Daxter Miles of West Virginia to proclaim that

Big Dance Roundup and Look Ahead
Last week we gave you a preview of the tournament and some predictions of teams that we felt could make a run to the Final 4. Well, those predictions were way off and the bracket this writer submitted to his friends and a couple websites sits in about 10 millionth place. All the wise guys were talking about Iowa State and Virginia. Those teams won a combined 1 game. Now we are going to go region by region to see what happened and what we can look forward to seeing next weekend.
It’s that time of the year again. The time that most bird watchers observe our little feathered friends from the warmth of our houses. I do believe winter is never going to leave! It is amazing what might come to backyard feeders on any given day. It is also a great opportunity to photograph these backyard wanderers. Some of my best bird shots have been taken right out of my kitchen window. It was only yesterday that I photographed a tufted titmouse on my feeder. This is one bird that I can’t recall ever seeing on my feeder before, but I’m glad he’s around.
