The Kane High trap team hosted South St. Marys on Thursday in a rematch of last season’s league finals. The Kane squad improved to 4-0 on the season with a 131-126 win over the visitors at the Kane Fish and Game Club.
Ricky Grundstrom led the hosts, carding a score of 24 out of 25 targets, an impressive feat considering the windy conditions. Grundstrom just edged out teammates Justin Lorenzo and Hunter Yasurek for top honors. The pair of Kane shooters were joined by South St Marys’ Tony Anders with rounds of 23.

The Kane Softball team was winless last season but put that losing steak behind them with a win over Sheffield in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon. The Redbank Valley Lady Bulldogs came to Kane on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Lady Wolves in a track and field dual meet and left town with a 93-56 victory. The Redbank team had too much depth for the young Lady Wolves, although a number of Kane girls came through with good performances in preparation for Saturday’s Kane Invitational.
The Kane boys track team evened its dual meet record to 1-1 on the season as they downed a tough Redbank Valley track Squad by a score of 83-67.
Kane was led by two first-place finishes on the track by junior Hunter Yasurek as he won the 400 in 54.95 and the 800 in a time of 2:06.32. CLEARFIELD—Brandon Orsich of Clearfield and Kalee Wayne of DuBois took home top honors in the Gold Pin Scratch Classic tournament held Sunday afternoon at Clearfield Lanes. Thirty-three members and guests (22 male and 11 female) took to the lanes for a three game-qualifying session before the fields were cut to the top seven. Josh Hall (650 series) and Andrea Lipps (530 series) both bowling out of Bradford captured the top seeds in their respective divisions, and received bowling bags from Global 900 for the efforts.
