MT. JEWETT â€“ A day after the sale of the Mt. Jewett water system, plans were made to seek a possible buyer for the Mt. Jewett sewage operation.
The Mt. Jewett Regional Sewer Authority agreed Tuesday to advertise for bids for the proposed sale of the sewage system.
Kane Community Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in nuclear medicine as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).Â
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material-- ingested by the patient-- to diagnose and treat a variety of disease, including many types of cancers, heart disease and certain other abnormalities within the body.
Gloria A. Swanson, 87, formerly of 2 Reigel Rd., Kane, died Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born July 6, 1927 in Kane, she was the daughter of Louis and Sarah Heasley Gerhart.Â On July 30, 1949 in Clarion, she married Stanley L. Swanson, who died in 2009.
Gloria had worked at the Resistor Plant at Stackpole Corp. in Kane for 25 years. Later, she worked for and became manager of Widman's for several years, and also worked at Roma Gardens, both in Kane.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kane where she belonged to the King's Daughters.
MT. JEWETT â€“ Aqua Pennsylvania is the new owner of the Mt. Jewett water system.
Acting at a meeting Monday, the Mt. Jewett Borough Council voted 4-0 to accept a high bid from Aqua-- one of two private companies interested in acquiring the water system.
Francis Anthony Millard, 56, of Ridgway, pleaded guilty Monday afternoon in federal court to charges of conspiracy to possess firearms by a convicted felon.
The winners were announced from the First Annual Paulâ€™s Trading Post Walleye Tournament. Jesse and Cody Nussbaum of St Marys caught five fish totaling eight pounds and five ounces. Jerry and Hunter Dixon of Bradford took home second-place honors.
Martha J. Moore, 89, formerly of Johnsonburg and Kane, died Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2014 at Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility in Ridgway.
Born Oct. 15, 1924 in Fairmont, W. Va., she was the daughter of Joseph and Vergie Cross Young. On Nov. 12, 1942 in Belington, W. Va., she married Dale E. Moore, who died in 1976.
Martha had been a clerk at the former Market Basket, then drove school bus, bothÂ in Johnsonburg.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness near Kane.

The Highland Township Recreational Association held their annual Car and Motorcycle Show on Saturday afternoon at the ball field in James City. Event Coordinator Marsha Buhl said that crowds were up from the past two years as the weatherman finally cooperated and provided a sunny, warm day for the show.
