St. Marys Lady Dutch Defeats Lady Wolves in Five Sets

The St. Marys Lady Dutch traveled to Kane on Tuesday evening and came away with a 5-set victory, 25-23, 17-25, 25-16, 14-25 and 15-7.

Brenda L. Wolves drop home game to West Forest

The Kane boys’ soccer team hosted the West Forest Fire on Monday and came away with a 5-1 loss.
Neither team was able to score for the first 20 minutes as both teams missed chances at the net. The visitors got onto the scoreboard first with 20:41 left in the half when a Fire player scored among a crowd in front of Kane goalie Tyler Schleicher. The team from Tionesta tacked on two more goals before the break.

Despite court ruling, fight continues vs. drilling

The Kane-based Allegheny Defense Project and the Sierra Club plan to continue their fight against drilling for gas and oil in the Allegheny National Forest.

Ronald J. Francis, 75, of 81 East Main St., Mt. Jewett, and also 985 Valencia Estates, Lakeland, Fla, died Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.
He was born in Erie on Jan. 18, 1938, the son of the late Clarence and Ann (Zelinski) Francis. He graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1956 and was employed at Hammermill International Paper for 42 1/2 years. He also had owned and operated the Instant Heartburn Sausage Trailer for many years.

Homecoming King and Queen

Riley Austin (left), son of Bev and Scott Austin of Kane, is the Homecoming King at Kane High School. The king was announced Saturday at the Homecoming Dance at the high school. Ellie Tunall (right), daughter of Mary and Steve Tunall of Kane, is the Homecoming Queen. The queen was announced Friday at halftime of the Homecoming football game. Both king and queen are seniors at Kane High School.

Kane school chief loses again in federal court

Dr. Maryann Anderson, superintendent of the Kane School District, has lost yet another battle in her lengthy federal case in U.S. District Court in Erie.

Wolves roll over Tide 42-8 in battle of AML South unbeatens

The Kane Wolves dominated Friday night’s game with Curwensville on both sides of the ball, winning the battle of 4-0 AML South teams by a score of 42-8. The Wolves’ defense, led by senior lineman Evan Delong, forced four turnovers and the Wolves offense scored early and often against the visiting Golden Tide.
