September 30th, 2011
Alice B. Jones, 90, of 2 Delaware Ave., James City, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at her residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1921 in Kittanning, she was the daughter of Albert A. and Mary J. Moore Bouch. On Nov. 9, 1940 in Winchester, Va., she married Carroll E. "Birch" Burton, who died in 1989. On June 21, 1995, she married Lawrence H. "Jonesy" Jones, who died in 2002.
Mrs. Jones had been a Medical Lab Technician at the Kane Community Hospital for many years, then later at the Ridgway Hospital.
September 29th
The Kane boys golf team ran into a very good Ridgway team at the Kane Country Club. The Elkers would come away with a win 222-266. Josh Mitchell and Jesse Reynolds would share medalist honors with a nice score of 42. Ryan Greto led the Kane charges with a 49, followed closely by John Bedford 50 and Austin Woolcock 51. Brendan Sharer and Andrew Carlson would card a 58 to round out the scoring for the home team.
September 28th
Kane girls golf team finished their season on a high note with a nice win over Port Allegany. The young lady wolves would finish the year with a 7-3 record. Kyla Hoag would take home Medalist Honors with a 47. She was followed closely by teammate Kelsey Carlson who came in at 49.

The Kane Wolves varsity soccer team was back in action Tuesday afternoon at Kane High School against the Smethport Hubbers. The Wolves opened the season against the Hubbers in Smethport with a 2-1 double overtime win and after a big league victory on Thursday the Wolves hoped to continue their solid play in yet another important league game.
Frank A. Moore Sr., 88, of 36 Narrow Ln., died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital following a short illness.
Born Aug. 9, 1923, in Sheffield, he was a son of John and Anna Streick Moore. On Feb. 9, 1946, at St. Callistus Church in Kane, he married Elizabeth Koza who preceded him in death.
Mr. Moore was employed at Dresser Manufacturing in Bradford until his retirement in 1984. He belonged to the VFW Post 1132 in Kane.
September 27th
The Kane lady wolves used a strong defensive effort in the last five minutes of the game to preserve a hard fought 3-2 win over a game Smethport team.
Goalie Jesse Ogorek came up with some very big saves in the last couple minutes of the game as the Hubber offense started to press the Wolves' defense.Â

Frederick R. Anderson, 59, of 192 Saw Pit Hill Rd., Woodbury, Conn., passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at Waterbury Hospital.
Born Oct. 26, 1951, in Kane, he was the son of Frederick V. and Lenore “Connie” Hadley Anderson.Â
On Feb. 5, 1977, in Jamestown, N.Y., he married Karen Fulton who survives.
Mr. Anderson was a manager of information systems for the Barden Corporation in Danbury, Conn. He was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God, the Kane V.F.W. and the IOV Lodge of the Vikings. He also enjoyed hunting and scuba diving.
September 22nd
The Kane Wolves varsity soccer team hosted the St. Marys Dutchmen on Tuesday afternoon at Kane High School.
The game was highlighted by great defense on both sides and limited scoring opportunities. The first half featured a St. Marys attack that put a lot of pressure on the Kane defense. Despite the surge from the Dutchmen, Kane was able to limit legitimate scoring opportunities.
When St. Marys did find an opening, sure-handed goal keeper Corey McGuire was able to keep the Dutch off the board. Kane had limited offensive opportunities, and the halftime score was 0-0.
James L. Threehouse of 901 Washington St., formerly of 318 Tompkins St., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Threehouse was born on Dec. 12, 1944 in Olean, N.Y.,a son of John G. & Francis Parret Threehouse. On Oct. 4, 1969 in St. Stephan’s Episcopal Church, he married Diane Pepin, who survives.

RIDGWAY – Kane had several chances Tuesday to power past undefeated Ridgway before the Lady Elkers broke through for a 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-13) win.
Tied at 2-2 going into the last set, Ridgway took a dominant start aided heavily by seven Kane errors to take an early 10-1 advantage in the fifth and deciding game.
