Connie J. Walker, 74, of 13 Merrick St., Hazel Hurst, went home to meet the Lord she loved while surrounded by her loving family at UPMC Hamot on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
Born Aug. 4, 1938, in Kane,Â she was a daughter ofÂ the late John and Avis Nogar Keesler.
ConnieÂ was employed by the Smethport School DistrictÂ for 30 years as a custodian.Â She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett and was an avid bingo player and loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are two sons, James Walker, "her loving caretaker"Â and John (Deb) Walker, both of Hazel Hurst.
Jacqueline N. "Cookie" Nelson, 65, of 381 South Settlement Rd., Kane, a longtime resident of Warren, died Friday morning, Aug. 2, 2013 at the Warren ManorÂ a dayÂ after beingÂ admitted.
Born Sept. 9, 1947 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of Jack M. and Lois E. Hancock Walter.Â On March 31, 2012 in Kiantone, N.Y., she married James P. Nelson, who survives.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kane, and enjoyed making crafts.

Robin Leigh Sluga, 60, of New Port Richey, Fla. died Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. Mary's Home of Erie in Erie.Â
She was born in Kane on July 11, 1953, a daughter of the late Charlie and Ruth Sluga of Mt. Jewett.
I am often asked the question at art shows or when Iâm speaking on photography, if Iâm ever worried about being attacked by the wild animals I photograph. I tend to just laugh it off with a joke or tell the audience that has never even occurred to me when Iâve been out in the wild. After all, Iâm just a photographer, Iâm invincible. This train of thought changed dramatically for me on the afternoon of July 9, 2013.
