The Kane High School Trap team narrowly lost to Ridgway/Johnsonburg in their first home match of the year. The visitors defeated Kane by a score of 130-122.
JAMES CITY – Highland Township may soon handle the financial bookkeeping activities for the township's volunteer fire department.
Township Supervisor Charlie Vaughn proposed the takeover of fire department financial records Wednesday at a meeting the Board of Supervisors.

JOHNSONBURG – The Lady Wolves' bats exploded in two prolific innings as the offense put up runs in bunches for a 17-6 win Tuesday afternoon against the Ramettes.
SMETHPORT – The McKean County Planning Commission has approved two land developments in the Kane area.
Frances M. Preshak, 87, of 311 Sedgwick St., passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at her residence.
Born Jan. 2, 1926, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Rolick Zuzek. On April 23, 1960, in Kane, she married Francis Preshak who preceded her in death.
Before retirement, Mrs. Preshak had worked at Stackpole. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving are a sister, Ann Rolf of Kane; a sister-in-law, Carol Zuzek of Kane;Â a brother-in-law, Norm (Nancy) Preshak of Sheffield; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward C. Anderson, 70, of 421 N. Tionesta Ave., died Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he resided.
Born May 19, 1942 in Kane, he was the son of Edward F. and Margaret R. Jones Anderson. On Aug. 5, 1961 in Kane, he married Linda L. Fay, who survives.
Mr. Anderson was the Paramedic Coordinator for seven years at Elk County General Hospital in Ridgway, then the operator for Kane Ambulance Service and worked at the Kane Community Hospital. He was a paramedic in Saudi Arabia for five years, then was an operator engineer in road construction in the Kane Area.

These three Kane basketball players were recently named to the AML All-Star team for their performances the past season.
SMETHPORT – Plans for a veterans' memorial in Ludlow were unveiled Monday at a meeting of the McKean County Board of Commissioners.
