MT. JEWETT â Police officer Steve Hale has been honored for making numerous DUI arrests in 2012 in Kane and Mt. Jewett.
Hale, the police chief in Mt. Jewett and a part-time policeman in Kane, made 37 arrests in 2012 for driving under the influence (DUI)--Â either alcohol or drugs.
BRADFORD â A preliminary hearing for suspended Kane police chief Brian Hillard will not take place today as scheduled.
A spokesman for Bradford District Court Judge Dominic Cercone Jr. said Tuesday that the hearing has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.
A âStranger Danger Awarenessâ program will be held at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in the Kane Middle School auditorium.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will attend the presentation.
The goal set for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile stop on Monday in Kane was to collect 32 full units of blood.
Robert E. Allshouse, 64, of 1519 Rte 66 and 948, Russell City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1948, in Warren, he was a son of the late Theodore and Lulu Vandervoort Allshouse. On May 6, 1971, in Kane, he married Sally Haight who survives.
Mr. Allshouse, who was a 15-year cancer survivor, served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.Â He had been employed as a monitor at CD Electrodes in St. Marys.
MT. JEWETT â The Mt. Jewett Borough Council plans to "explore" a possible sale of the borough water system to a private company.
SMETHPORT â A change in a budget for federal funding is expected to help the borough of Kane complete renovations at Evergreen Park.
The Lady Wolves played 80 solid minutes of soccer on Monday on their way to posting an impressive 2-1 victory over the visiting Brockway Lady Rovers. The Kane offense dominated the action early, controlling the ball for most of the early going.
Walter J. Nalducci Jr., 74, of 510 Janeway St., died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at his residence.
Born Dec. 2, 1938, in Bayonne, N.J., he was a son of the late Walter and Florence Bevilacqua Nalducci.Â On Sept. 8, 1962, at St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, he married Anne Varisano who survives.
Mr. Nalducci served in the U.S. Air ForceÂ and saw duty stateside and in Guam.Â He attended St. Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J. and retired as the postmaster of the Kane Post Office.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader football team had their homecoming game on Saturday afternoon at Dutch Country Stadium, losing 35-7 to the Kane Wolves to fall to 0-6 on the season.
"We had some things going there. We made some mistakes," said ECC head coach Tony Gerg. "I wish we could have had a better showing for homecoming."
