It wasnâ€™t pretty but Kaneâ€™s win over Coudersport on Friday will look beautiful in the record books as the 2013 Wolves became only the third team in Kane football history to finish the regular season undefeated.
The Friends' Memorial Library was the place to be on Thursday. Kane Area Development Center sponsored a BAH-October After Hours event at the library and nearly half of those in attendance came in costume. Uptown Kane will be bustling on Saturday during the group's Fall Fest. Many activities are planned throughout the town, including a parade at 1 p.m.
The Kane Wolves football team tries to put the finishing touches on an undefeated regular season tonight when they travel to CARP Stadium to take on the 4-4 Coudersport Falcons.
The Falcons narrowly lost to Curwensville in their season opener, then went on to win their next three contests. Since that time, Coudersport has gone 1-3, losing to Sheffield, Smethport and Otto-Eldred.
Kane volleyball coach Judy Kessler is looking at Thursday nightâ€™s match with Bradford kind of like the "glass is half full."
The Lady Owls finished their second consecutive undefeated regular season with a three-set win over the Lady Wolves in the Wolves Den.
Uptown Kane will be buzzing with activity on Saturday with various activities planned throughout the day.
Many Kane businesses will be having sidewalk sales, weather permitting, and offering special sales to mark the event. Several businesses will have coupons offering additional discounts, and customers using the coupons will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift certificate.
RIDGWAY â€“ The recent 16-day federal government shutdown had little effect on the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission as officials for the reimbursement-based organization were prepared for the duration.
Saturday's Steve Jerman Memorial 5K Race was the third leg of the Memorial Race Series Triple Crown Championship.
Chuck and Peg Kepler were honored at Saturday's 15th Annual Steve Jerman Memorial 5K Race and Two Mile Walk for "Fifteen years of dedication and service" to the event. More than 120 people registered to participate in the run or walk on Saturday. All proceeds from the event benefit the Steve Jerman Memorial Scholarship Fund.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Kane Lady Wolves improved to 9-7 on the season with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-23) win Tuesday night over Johnsonburg.
"I was really pleased with how we played," said Kane head coach Judy Kessler. "I knew Johnsonburg wasn't going to roll over and just lay down, there was no way they were going to do that.
Representatives from three area emergency organizations took part in Sundayâ€™s emergency vehicle driver training at the Kane Area High School parking lot.
