A Kane resident waived his preliminary hearing Monday on a charge linked with his lifetime registration for convicted sexual offenders under Megan's Law.
Travis James Kelly, 29, who had been residing at 312 Greeves St., Kane, remains locked up in the McKean County Jail near Smethport pending proceedings in McKean County Court.
He had been placed in jail on $20,000 cash bail. Without opposition from Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade, Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman agreed Monday to reduce the bail to $10,000 cash.
JoAnn "Tuby" Dodrill, 79, of 15 South Edgar St., Kane, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born Jan. 3, 1935 in Wellsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of Vernon M. and Blanche E. McCracken Simpson. On June 1, 1957 in Wellsburg, she married Fredric M. Dodrill, who died in 2006.
Philip Paul Frase, 41, of 75 Perry Ln., Zebulon, N.C., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at his residence.
Born Aug. 15, 1973, in Kane, he was a son of the late Douglas Frase and Patricia Cole Roesch.
Mr. Frase attended Kane High School and was employed as a construction worker.
MT. JEWETT â The 2015 budget for Mt. Jewett is not expected to carry a tax hike.
Borough Council President Chuck Paar said Sunday that it appears the borough council would act Dec. 8 to approve a tentative budget with a freeze on taxes.
He said the âbalanced budgetâ would not include a property tax increase.
Council scheduled a workshop Sunday afternoon to review the proposed budget before taking action. But a sign on the office door at the borough building said the workshop had been canceled.
The Kane Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) held a Veterans Day Dinner on Saturday evening in the clubrooms on Wetmore Avenue.
More than 70 attended the dinner.Â
Retired Navy Commander John Coster of Washington, D.C. was the guest speaker. His wife is the former Dawn Peterson of Kane. She attended the dinner with her husband.
Kargerâs Catering prepared the dinner, which followed a social hour at the club. The bar was closed during the dinner and program. Members of Boy Scout Troop 422 served the dinner.
DuBOIS â In a game that few people outside of the borough of Kane expected, the Wolves scored 18 unanswered points against the Clarion Bobcats to defeat the stateâs fifth-ranked Class A team 18-8 in DuBois on Saturday night. The Wolvesâ defense held the high-powered Bobcat offense to single digits as Kaneâs offense dominated the time of possession.

The Kane School Board has approved several personnel appointments.
Acting at a meeting Thursday at the Kane Middle School auditorium, the board:
*Named Matt Maybury, Susan Isacco, Jordan Barnard, Cammy Engman and Deana Carlson to the list of day-to-day substitute teacher aides.
*Appointed Engman as a substitute nurse.
*Named Donna Truden, Engman and Carlson to the list of substitute cafeteria workers.
*Named Sara Kate Veety as the adviser for the Jazz Band.
*Appointed teacher Jennifer Lindquist as a proctor for exams.
*Appointed Thomas Sirianni as a part-time library assistant.
ERIE â Two Kane siblings are wearing costumes today as they take part in an anti-bullying program at the Millcreek Mall near Erie.
They include Kane High School junior Galicia Fryzlewicz and her brother, Kane High freshman Gunnar Fryzlewicz.
They are the children of Heidi and James Fryzlewicz of Kane.
The siblings have been playing a big part in the mall's efforts to address the bullying problem in schools.
