The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a permit for the sale of effluent from the Kinzua sewage treatment plant on Route 321 just north of Kane.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ A Highland Township supervisor and sewage treatment plant operator for the James City Sewage Treatment Plant waived his preliminary hearing in District Court 59-3-02 Wednesday on charges that he violated environmental laws in allegedly falsifying environmental reports and discharging some 10 million gallons of raw sewage from the treatment plant into a nearby stream.

Billie Jo Worley, 29, of 130 Greeves St., passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born June 21, 1983, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, she was a daughter of Clifford(Barbara) Gadley and Kathryn Thayer. She was married in New Jersey,Â to Michael Worley who survives.
Billie Jo, a homemaker, was a member of the Eagles Lodge # 307 in Kane.
Marian C. Swanson, 90, formerly of Kasson, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at the Elk Regional HospitalÂ in St. Marys.
Born Sept. 9, 1922, in Kushequa, she was a daughter of Wells and Margaret Martin Blair. On May 2, 1948, in Kushequa, she married Russell Swanson who preceded her in death.Â They were the first couple to be married at the Kushequa Union Church.
Mrs. Swanson was employed in the Treasury office at the courthouse and later worked in the VA office.
A member of the Smethport Methodist Church, she also was a participant in the Bell Choir at the church.
Michael Alan Snyder, 57, ofÂ Kane, died Nov. 11, 2012, of an accidental drowning when the canoe he was in tipped over at the Kinzua Reservoir while he was fishing with his wife who also drowned in the accident.
Born April 23, 1955, in Clearfield County, he was a son of Charles H. and Dores Holt Snyder Sr. On Nov. 12, 1999, in Olmsted County in Minnesota,Â he married Terry Wegman who diedÂ with him in the accident.
Mr. Snyder was the owner of Snyder Contracting.
\HeÂ was a member of the VFW Lodge #1132 in Kane and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He also was a NASCAR fan.
Just as many Kane area residents are sitting down to enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner, members of the Kane Eagles Club will be busy delivering hot meals to senior citizens and others who are alone on the holiday.
The body of Michael Snyder was recovered from the Kinzua Dam Tuesday, Nov. 20 at approximately 5 p.m. in the same area where the body of his wife was recovered on Nov. 11. The couple had drowned in a boating accident.
