HERSHEY â€“ Johnsonburg boys basketball's season did not end as sweet as the Rams would have hoped for.
But in the end, Johnsonburg made the District 12 champion Vaux Cougars work to earn their gold medals.
Vaux defeated Johnsonburg 83-63 in the PIAA Class A boys basketball championship game Friday afternoon at Giant Center.

Grace Iva Oddy, 63, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at her residence in Ludlow.
Born May 20, 1949, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late ErnestÂ and Alma Belle Houpt Graeser. On Jan. 30, 1969, in Philadelphia, she married Richard Oddy who survives.
Mrs. Oddy was a member of the Olivet Covenant Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.
George Lewis Hulings, Jr., 74, of James City, passed awayÂ Thursday, March 21, 2013, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Aug. 25, 1938, in James City, he was a son of the late George and Evelyn Confer Hulings. On Oct. 10, 1959, at the Church of God in James City, he married Barbara Bliss who survives.
George had been employed by Stackpole Carbon Co. in Kane and served in the National Guard.
He was baptized in faith at the First Baptist Church in Kane.Â As favorite pastimes, he enjoyed gardening and long walks in the woods with his faithful Yorkie, Sweetie Pie.
The Kane Lady Wolves finished the 2012 season with an 8-8 record but showed a lot of improvement over the course of the year. The highlight of the season was a 5-1 late-season victory over eventual District 9 A Champions Elk County Catholic.
Kane girlsâ€™ track and field coach Jim Sirianni has a solid group of athletes returning for him this season, led by three standout seniors.
The Kane boysâ€™ track team will be coming into this season as the defending District IX Champions. Whenever you are coming off a successful season like last year, it usually means a rebuilding year. Kane will definitely be in that process in a lot of events.
The Kane Wolves 2013 baseball team will have a new coach leading them. Coach Josh Lindemuth served as an assistant under Mark Kossack for the previous two seasons. After Kossack resigned the post, Lindemuth moved up to the top position.
The National Honor Society at Kane High School held a Winter Fun Night earlier this week for students at the Kane Elementary School.
The Kane High School baseball and softball teams were scheduled to open their seasons in three days.
"They better use orange balls," meteorologist Barry Lambert joked Thursday.
