Sister Frances Therese is stepping down as the longtime coordinator of religious education at St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane.
"I've loved every minute of my job," Sister Therese said as she bids farewell to the Kane community. "I'm going to miss all the people-- especially the children."
A slow-moving storm dumped up to three inches of rain on the Kane area within a 33-hour period, the National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday.
The deluge caused widespread flooding along low-lying areas.
Many basements flooded and sections of some area highways and roads were temporarily closed due to high water.
SMETHPORT â€“ The McKean County Commissioners approved the acceptance of an offer from the Kane Area Revitalization Enterprise to purchase the property at 316 Chase ST. for $250 from the McKean County repository. The property formerly was an addition to Papa Nick's restaurant and prior to that was the site of the Knights of Columbus.
Despite being moved indoors to the Kane Middle School auditorium, a large crowd enjoyed Tuesday nightâ€™s premiere of â€ś150 Years of Kane, A Student Journey.â€ť
A group of Kane Middle School students spent the past three years working on the project and judging by the reaction of the audience on Tuesday, the hard work was evident in the finished product.
The Kane Area Revitalization Enterpriseâ€™s bid to purchase the property at 316 Chase St. from the McKean County Repository cleared a final hurdle on Tuesday.
The McKean County Commissioners approved a bid of $250 for the property. The bid had previously been approved by two taxing bodies, the Borough of Kane during a June 9, 2014 meeting and the Kane Area School District at the board meeting on June 12.

Two long time members of the Kane Lions Club received the Melvin Jones Award, the LCIFâ€™s highest from of recognition to acknowledge an individuals dedication to humanitarian service. Robert â€śChurchâ€ť Gustafson and Matthew Gayley of Kane have been named Melvin Jones Fellows by Lions Clubs International Foundation in recognition of their commitment to serving the world community.
Kaneâ€™s Third Annual Under the Lights 5K will be held this Thursday, June 26 at the Kane Area High School track. The event is held in conjunction with Alumni Week each year and proceeds from the run benefit the Kane All Sports Boosters Club.
JAMES CITY â€“ Nearly 100 people attended Saturdayâ€™s â€śHighland Township residents fight for clean water picnic,â€ť according to one of the event organizers, Marsha Buhl.
Buhl, a James City resident and member of an organization entitled â€śHighland Township Citizens Advocating a Clean Healthy Environmentâ€ť (CACHE), collected the names and addresses of most of those in attendance throughout the four hour event held at the fire hall in James City.
