DAGUS MINES â€“ Although she is five-years-old Fiona Jane O'Dell is still referred to as an 'O' baby, having been born with a rare birth defect known as a giant omphalocele which only occurs in one in every 10,000 pregnancies.
An omphalocele is a birth defect in which an infant's intestine or other abdominal organs are outside of the body due to a hole in their belly button area. The organs are covered only by a thin layer of tissue and can easily be seen.
Donna Kay Wolfe, 46, of 105 Clay St., died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 in the emergency room at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 19, 1968, in Kane, she was a daughter ofÂ the late Virgil and Nancy Nelson Allen. On June 7, 1985, in Kane, she married Larry Wolfe who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, David Wolfe and Luke Wolfe, both of Kane; and a sister, Tammy (Craig) Carlson of Bradford.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Travis Wolfe.
Frances K. Meckley, 97, formerly of 526 Tionesta Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.Â
Born May 22, 1917, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Pasqualina Costanzo Perry. On Nov. 22, 1941, in Kane, she married Orvis S. Meckley Jr. who preceded her in death in 1997.
Fran had worked at various times at the former Shirt Factory, the Temple Theater and Houston Electronics. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. She also had belonged to the CD of A Court Callistus #66 and the former Altar-Rosary Society.

Jay Paterno braved a steady snowfall and slippery roads as he drove from State College to Kane to speak Thursday evening before a crowd of 75 at the Friends Memorial Public Library.
The winter storm held down the size of the audience. Perhaps many felt Paterno would be a â€śno-showâ€ť because of the weather.
But missing a scheduled public forum is not in Paternoâ€™s DNA.
He said his late fatherâ€”legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paternoâ€”wouldnâ€™t excuse him if he ever missed such a public event.
HAZEL HURST â€“ Joni Britton confirmed Thursday that she will not seek another term as supervisor for Hamlin Township.
"There are too many things going on in my own life," Britton said in citing her reasons for not seeking re-election this year. "My own life takes a lot of time. My family has sacrificed."
Britton, vice chairman of the township Board of Supervisors, said she would serve out her term that expires at the end of the year.

Caroline Carson, 88, formerly of 6103 Route 66, Kane, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Feb. 14, 1926, in Kane, she was a daughter of Nazzarno and Anna Fontnelli Caramboni. On Feb. 22, 1947, in Kane, she married Emmet R. Carson who preceded her in death.
Caroline was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church. She had been employed by the former Benson Office Supply, Mountain City Bootery and most recently, Carson Landscaping.
