Kane fire department officers

The Kane Volunteer Fire Department has elected officers for 2015. The officers include, left to right: Bill Horton, vice president; Brian Nelson, president; Tom Eastman, secretary; and Randy Gullifer, treasurer. The annual fire department banquet is March 7 at the fire hall. State Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) is the guest speaker.

Kane Loves Our Fuzzy Friends

Sandra Olson of Kane is the winner of the "Kane Loves Our Fuzzy Friends" promotion. Sandra and many others donated items to the McKean County S.P.C.A. and she won the Midland wearable video camera from the Photo and Sound Shoppe. Congratulations and thank you to Sandra, and to all who donated to the S.P.C.A. and the local businesses who support the promotion every year.

Technology program at middle school

Shell Appalachia is sponsoring a program at the Kane Middle School to motivate students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Parent orientation took place Thursday in the middle school gymnasium. Among those parents participating are, seated: Jim and Ingrid Cartwright and Randy Bernhard. Jay Israel (standing) is the middle school principal. The Cartwrights' son, Dominic is an eighth-grade student at the middle school. Bernhard's daughter, Emily also is an eighth-grader. Students will be participating in the STEM program today at the school.

New state legislator for Kane area

State Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) hosted an "open house" Thursday in Kane to introduce himself to Kane area residents. As of Dec. 1, his state legislative district includes all of McKean County. The group includes, left to right: John and Louise Schmidt of Kane, Causer and Jill Thompson, manager of Causer's office at 55 Fraley St., Kane. State Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren) previously represented the Kane area.

Santa and Mrs. Claus

Santa and Mrs Claus made a pre-Christmas stop at the Kane Community Center on Saturday following the annual Santa Parade. Coulter, 19 months, keeps a wary eye on St. Nick as sisters Kalin, 5, and Karys, 7, wait their turn to tell Santa what they would like for Christmas. The three made the trip from Indiana with their mother, Katie Stewart, to visit their grandparents and sit on Santa's lap.

Lions decorate for Christmas

Members of the Kane Lions club are shown hanging Christmas wreaths early Sunday morning, Nov. 22 on the street light poles on Fraley Street. Shown is  Russ Counts with his crew making final adjustments to a wreath in front of the Lilly of the Valley. This year the Lions added new rope lights to the Fraley Street poles as well as five new decorations on Field Street.

New rescue truck on display
