Marching in Pet Parade

Parents and their children marched Friday in the Pet Parade in Kane. The parade formed at SMP Pharmacy at Haines and Fraley streets and traveled down the Haines Street hill to the St. Callistus Catholic Church parking lot.

VFW aids Kane Fire Department

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Kane has donated $1,000 to the Kane Volunteer Fire Department. Taking part in the check presentation are, left to right: Tim Lehman, first assistant fire chief; Tim Holt, fire chief; Chuck Wilbert, commander of the VFW; and Virgil Johnson, a VFW trustee.

Ribbon cutting at Kane Pit Stop

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Kane Pit Stop and their newly opened kitchen.  The Kane Pit Stop at 159 Fraley St., formerly Fuel On, is open 24 hours Thursday, Friday and Saturday, until midnight on Sunday and from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Kane Pit Stop will serve breakfast from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily and 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays. Store manager Kay Hannah and kitchen manager Bily Jo Hurlburt cut the ribbon to celebrate their recent grand opening. The Kane Pit Stop employs nearly a dozen Kane residents.

Dave Peterson of Sheffield won the Best of Show - Motorcyle Division - for his 2008 Yamaha Raider at Saturday's James City car show. The event started out with some poor weather, but the crowds picked up in the afternoon as the rain stopped and the sun came out.
