These four graduating seniors at Kane Area High School received the Howard M., Daisy W. and Gail Cleveland Scholarship at commencement last month. Loren Wright Scholarship

Pam Wright presents the Loren Wright Memorial Scholarship to Deborah Lorenzo (left), a graduating senior at Kane High School. The scholarship was presented at commencement last month. The scholarship honors the late Loren Wright, a music teacher in the Kane Area School District for 35 years.

Steve Jerman Scholarship

Kelsey Carlson (left) and Ariel Brinkley (right) are the 2012 recipients of the Steve Jerman Memorial Scholarship. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The graduating seniors received the scholarship last month at the Kane High School commencement. The award is named for Kane Police Officer Steve Jerman, who was killed in the line of duty in 1999.

James Salvamoser award

The first James Salvamoser Community Service Scholarship was presented at the Kane High School commencement earlier this month. Taking part in the presentation are, left to right: Jeanne Cicero, daughter of James Salvamoser, a longtime Kane borough councilman and community leader who died in December; Margie Salvamoser, wife of James Salvamoser; award recipients Deborah Lorenzo and Peter Sirianni; and Jackie Durnell, daughter of James Salvamoser. Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship.

'Skippy' McCloskey award

Corey McGuire (center) is the recipient of the 2012 Ian "Skippy" McCloskey Memorial Scholarship. The award was presented at the Kane High School commencement earlier this month. The presenters are Gene and Nadine Staiger of Mt. Jewett. Nadine is the mother of "Skippy" McCloskey, a Kane High School graduate who was killed in a traffic accident.

Stanko Scholarship

The Joe Stanko Memorial Scholarship was presented at commencement earlier this month at Kane Area High School. Taking part in the presentation are, left to right: Kara Stanko, a daughter; Dakoda Davidson, a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship; Diane Stanko, a sister; Tyler Johnson, a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship; and Krysta Stanko, a daughter.

VanGiesen Patriot Award

The Staff Sgt. Kenneth R. VanGiesen Patriot Award has been presented to four Kane High graduating seniors who are entering military service. Taking part in the award presentation at commencement earlier this month are, left to right: Frank Sirianni, a member of the Kane Lions Club, steward of the award; Travis Hollabaugh, Gunnar Emberg, William Hulings, Emily Steele, the four recipients of a $500 award; Tom VanGiesen, father of the Kane soldier who was killed in Afghanistan last July while serving with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard; and Aimee VanGiesen Gullifer, sister of the soldier.

Phyllis Horn Memorial Scholarship

Kane Alumni Memorial Awards

Kathy Gibson (right), a 1997 graduate of Kane Area High School, presents three graduating seniors with the Kane High School Alumni Memorial Awards. Receiving $5,000 scholarships at commencement are, left to right: Kayleen Mericle, Deborah Lorenzo and Tyler Laurie. Since the inception of the Alumni Memorial Awards in 1985, a total of 66 graduating seniors have received $149,000 in scholarships. In addition to these scholarships, a $1,000 award is going to a "Rising Senior" in college. The recipient is Edana Depto.
