The National Honor Society at Kane Area High School held its annual dinner Wednesday at Olmsted Manor in Ludlow. These second-year members of the society took part in the ceremony for the induction of new members. The second-year members include, left to right, seated: Deborah Lorenzo, secretary; Nicole Shrubb, treasurer; and Cara Jo Lorenzo, historian; standing: Peter Sirianni; Tyler Laurie, president; Brendan Sharer; Joel Strandburg, vice president; and Corey McGuire.
Lois Bergstrom Green (left) of Fredericksburg, Va. and Carol Zuzek (right) of West Wind Road, Wetmore Township, enjoy some of the Christmas items on display at SMP pharmacy in Kane during Thursday's "Ladies Night Out" program. Zuzek and Bergstrom, a 1953 graduate of Kane High School, are long-time friends. A large crowd attended the program at the store on Fraley Street at Haines Street.

Mary Filjones, the school district's gifted support teacher, is the adviser for the society. The society selected high school teacher Mike Szymanski to be the guest speaker for the dinner.
The Kane Middle School Accelerated Reader contest winners for November are Jessica Taylor (left; seventh grade), Christo Park (right; sixth grade), and Isaac Payne (not pictured; eighth grade). A total of 69 middle school students qualified for the contest. Students must earn enough AR points to be entered into the prize drawing. Points are earned by reading novels and taking a comprehension test on the novels.
The Forest of Lights display continues this weekend at Wildcat Park on Route 6 near Ludlow. Enjoy the Christmas lighting display in the park while riding in your vehicle. Enter the rear gate from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The charge of $5 per car benefits Wildcat Park. The Forest of Lights is held on Saturday and Sunday in December from 6-8 p.m. Santa will be at the park on Saturday and Sunday this weekend from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On the day after Thanksgiving these scouts and adult leadersÂ from pack 422 in Kane enjoyed the wonderful November weather and went on a hike to burn off some calories.Â The day after thanksgiving hike is a tradition started years ago and continues to be enjoyed every year.
