Shell is paying for drainage improvements along Forest Road 133 near its site for a new Marcellus Shale natural gas well. The well site is located 7/10ths of a mile from the bridge at the end of Jo Jo Road in Wetmore Township.

St. Matthews Preschool hangs with Smokey

St. Matthews Preschool came to the fire department on Wednesday and watched a movie (cartoon) about how Smokey the Bear came to be and they enjoyed doughnuts and milk which was provided by the department. Then Smokey paid them all a visit and they got to go through the trucks. When it came time for them to leave the kids all received water bottles, coloring calendars and various other items. Firefighters Ed Fisher, Shawn Howell, Doug Robinson and Robert (buddy) Green all took part along with two of the active members, Lynette Beatty and Vicky Robinson.

This rainbow appeared at the Plaza on the Million Dollar HIghway in St. Marys following a wet and windy Wednesday afternoon. Daily Press Staff Reporter Amy Cherry captured this arc, which she described as "by far the biggest and brightest" rainbow she's ever seen.

2012 Homecoming Queen

Dawn Saquin was crowned Kane's 2012 Homecoming Queen during halftime of Friday night's football game with Elk County Catholic. Saquin's escort for the evening was Zach Hadfield. Hadfield is one of the candidates for Homecoming King, which will be announced at the Homecoming Dance Saturday evening. The Wolves rallied for a late touchdown to knock the Crusaders from the ranks of the unbeatens.
