The Kane Area Soccer fields have been a busy place this week. More than 75 players, including the ones pictured, are taking part in this week's Kane Area Soccer Association Summer Youth Camp. The camp instructors are current and former Kane High soccer players and coaches. The camp concludes tonight with players receiving T-shirts and enjoying a pizza party.

Sixth-grade students at the Kane Middle School are preparing their rockets for launching next week. The rocket project is part of the class taught by Matt Gasbarre, science teacher. Former school science teacher John Odonish, Lou Larson and parents are helping the students build their rockets. When launched next week at the school athletic field, the rockets will soar 1,000 feet.
The third annual "Book Swap" was held Monday evening at the Kane Elementary School. Shakira Yoder (left), a third-grader at the school, trades in some books she's read for some she'll read this summer. She is the daughter of April (right) and Christopher Yoder of Mt. Jewett. First-grade teacher Vicky Anderson organizes the annual "Book Swap" in the school's multi-purpose room. "Celebrate Summer With Books" is the theme for this year's event. Children exchanged more than 1,000 books during the two-hour "Book Swap."
These three eighth-graders at the Kane Middle School begin their Easter break from classes Thursday by playing basketball at the court at Evergreen Park. The three 14-year-olds include, left to right: Ange Costanzo, Raymond Maze and Reed Williams. All three played on the middle school basketball team in the past season.
Kane Borough Police Officer Angela Knapp (right) fingerprints Abby Hollabaugh during kindergarten registration Thursday at the Kane Elementary School. Abby is the 5-year-old daughter of Sheila and Daniel Hollabaugh of Highland. Orientation for incoming kindergarten students is set Aug. 19-20.
