Kelsey Johnson

Kelsey Johnson, a 2014 Kane High graduate is a member of Clarion University's Girls Track team. Johnson competed at the PSAC Championships last weekend at East Stroudsburg University. Johnson ran on Clarion's 4x400 meter relay team, which finished eighth. The former Lady Wolves standout turned in a PR with a split time of 61.0.

Savannah Anderson tied the Kane High School record for the pole vault. The Lady Wolves' senior cleared 10'0" at the West Central Coaches Classic in Altoona on Friday, tying the mark set by Angela Salerno in 2007. Anderson and her teammates will be back in action this afternoon when they travel to Johnsonburg.

Morgan Nicholson

Kane High alumni Morgan Nicholson continues to excel for the Bloomsburg Huskies track and field team. Nicholson, a freshman at Bloomsburg, broke her own mark for the Huskies all-time record in the javelin on Saturday at the PSAC Championships with a throw of 141'0". Nicholson's throw captured fourth place in the league championship meet.

Three Kane Middle School track team members broke existing school records last week in Sheffield. Rachael Buhl, left, broke the seventh grade record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.43. Jake Alcorn reset his own record in the triple jump with a leap of 32'7.5", while Chelsea Hunt, right, broke the record she set last week in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:48.5 and also tied the 800-meter record, 2:41.1.

Chelsea Hunt, right, a member of Kane Middle School's track and field team, set a new seventh grade record at Saturday's Johnsonburg Invitational. Chelsea, pictured here with coach Stacy Beagle, won the 1600-meter run in a time of 5:49.53, breaking the old KMS standard of 5:54, set by Dani Kocjancic in 2005.

Daria Huckabone rounds second and heads for third as she leads off the second game of a doubleheader with DCC on Monday. Huckabone's triple would be the Lady Wolves only hit in the second game. The senior and the rest of the Lady Wolves will be back in action Wednesday as they take on Brockway in a road game.

Patrick Anderson, a 2012 Kane High graduate pictured here during an indoor track meet earlier this year, placed fifth at last weekend's Bucknell Classic as a member of Penn State's track and field team. The Nittany Lions' redshirt sophomore cleared a personal best 15'9" in the meet.

Alyssa Zampogna set the new KHS sophomore record for the long jump during Tuesday's meet in Bradford. Zampogna's leap of 15'8 1/2" broke the previous standard set by Taylor Bucheit in 2012. Bucheit set the mark by jumping 15'1" as a 10th-grader. The compiling of sophomore track and field records date back to 1996, according to coach Jim Sirianni. Zampogna and the rest of the KHS track and field teams will travel to Brookville tomorrow to take part in the Raiders' annual invitational.

Photo by Carson (left) and Steve Whiteman won the Kane Elks Adult-Youth Tournament held this past winter. The father and son duo captured the 11-and-under championship in the annual tourney and received their plaque at Saturday's season-ending banquet.
