4 district crowns in a row for Kane

The Kane boys' track and field team won their fourth straight District IX AA Championship on Friday, outdistancing a tough Karns City squad by a score of 91-73. Nine Wolves will be going to the PIAA Championships next week by virtue of their first- or second-place finish at districts. Studio K celebrates 10 years of dance with recital

Kane’s Studio K culminates its 10th year of business this weekend with the school’s annual recital. The studio, owned and operated by Kate Lenaway Undercoffer, will presents its recital this Saturday and Sunday at the Johnsonburg Area High School Auditorium.
More than 150 students, ranging in age from 2-18, will be performing in the show, which will be entitled “Ten,” in honor of the anniversary. In addition to Kane residents, Studio K students come from surrounding towns such as Mt Jewett, Smethport, Sheffield, Wilcox, Johnsonburg, Ridgway, St. Marys and Bradford.

Swanson would eventually score in the inning but the Hubbers ended up on top, 5-4. Kane will finish up the season this afternoon when they host Brockway at 3 p.m.

Middle school track stars shine

Six Kane middle school track and field standouts placed at last week's prestigious season ending meet at Altoona's Mansion Park. Chelsea Hunt, right, finished fourth in the 1600-meter run, crossing the finish line in 5:40. The time lowered the KMS all-time seventh grade record that Chelsea set earlier this season. Even more impressive is the fact that she set the new record despite falling during the race. Jake Alcorn was missing at the time of the photo. Alcorn placed eighth in the 200-meter dash.
