KASA recreational soccer take advantage of weather

One of the Kane Area Soccer Association's Recreational teams took advantage of Tuesday afternoon's beautiful weather for a late season practice. This U-10 team has two games left in its' spring season. Liftathon

Members of next fall's Kane Wolves' football team participated in the team's annual Liftathon on Friday afternoon. The event, which benefits the Kane Quarterback Club, raises money through pledges received for pounds lifted by the players. On the wall is a countdown to the Wolves' first game next season, against Sheffield in 91 days.

PA Mountain Men

These five Kane wrestlers were part of the PA Mountain Men wrestling team that took part in the 14th Annual NHSCA National Duals "Battle at the Beach" in Virginia Beach over Memorial Day weekend. From left to right are Noah Blankenship, Cody Blankenship, Nathan Asp, Evan Delong, and Alec English. More than 3,000 wrestlers from 24 states competed in the event, which included 90 elite high school teams and 44 elementary school teams. The Kane wrestlers had an excellent showing in the event.

First Annual Dodge Ball Tournament

The Kane Area High School held the First Annual Dodge Ball Tournament on Tuesday. The event pitted members from teams made up of six to eight students who participated in a round robin tournament during the day. The top four teams qualified to participate in the finals of the tournament, which was held during a school wide assembly at the end of the day. Nearly 100 KAHS students played in the tournament, which raised approximately $500 to benefit local cancer survivor and KASD employee Brenda Emer.

Kane Wolves 3-on-3

The Kane Wolves 3-on-3 12-year-old team took fourth place out of 16 teams overall in the 11-12 year-old devision at the Clarion High School 3-on-3 annual tournament. The tournament was held this past Saturday, March 23, in Clarion. In the photo, from left to right are Austin Pierson, Jared Hadsell, Alex Rezzelle and Clayton Detrick.

Junior wrestlers get high school support

March 15, 2013

The 22 Kane junior wrestlers participating in March 15s Area V tournament Friday in Clarion had two special visitors to practice this week. Kane High School wrestlers Cody Blankenship and Evan Delong came to practice to work with the boys and give them a pep talk prior to their big weekend. Delong and Blankenship just competed in the PIAA Wrestling Championships in Hershey last week, with Delong bringing home a second place medal.

Wrestlers qualify for tournament

March 13, 2013

These 22 young Kane wrestlers have qualified for the Area V Wrestling Tournament to be held March 16 in Clarion. The top two finishers in each age/weight division will advance to the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championships at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

District 9 AA tournament

Kane's Nate Moore works for the pin in the first period of his consolation finals match against Clarion's Zach Sintobin. Moore ended up pinning his opponent in the second period to take third place at the District 9 AA tournament. The top four finishers at each weight class advance to this Friday and Saturday's Northwest Regional Tournament in Sharon. Looking on from the Kane corner is assistant coach Dan Moore, who happens to be Nate's father, and Wolves' head coach Mike Swartwood.
