Kane Day School Meet the Teacher Night

There are a few openings still available for both 3- and 4-year-olds at the Kane Day School.
The Kane Day School, a privately run, nonprofit preschool has been in existence since 1973 and is located in the basement of the Tabor Lutheran Church. The church is located at the Greeves Street-Dawson Street intersection. The school offers separate programs for 3- and 4-year-olds.

"Component One" video production is complete

Thursday, Aug. 2, was the final day of “Component One” for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Arts in Education Partnership video production project sponsored by the Kane Area School District.

There are three candidates for the Teen Queen at the annual Mt. Jewett Swedish Festival to be held Friday through Sunday. The group includes, left to right, seated: Baylee Swanson, the 2011 festival queen; and Maya Huckabone, who will be entering the eighth grade later this month; standing: Brynn Howard, who will be entering the seventh grade; and Haley Williams, who will be a freshman. The crowning of the Teen Queen is held during the closing ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Center Street Stage.

One of the fundraisers involved in the Saturday Relay For Life event in Kane was the Miss Relay competition. Team members dressed up as females and went out into the community Saturday afternoon to get donations for the worthy cause.

The West Side Walkers team captained by Brenda Emer participated Saturday in the annual Relay For Life event in Kane. Warm temperatures greeted the walkers throughout the day as the event ran from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
