Both teams had scoring opportunities early but neither could cash in until the Gators’ Eli Knapp scored on a direct kick after a hand ball just outside the box. Knapp’s kick was just out of the reach of diving Kane goalie Tyler Schleicher with 18:44 left in the first half.

St. Marys sloshes pass Kane in boys soccer, 3-1

October 7, 2014

Colin Rohrback also scored for St. Marys and Zachary Fox added two assists.

The match was played in a steady, bone-chilling rain that intensified in the second half. But the heavier rain only seemed to pump up both teams.
