Kane girls lose at DCC in league playoffs, 42-26

DuBOIS – Not this time.
The Kane girls basketball team rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit Tuesday to defeat Brookville in its final regular-season home game.
They dug themselves into another hole Friday in an Allegheny Mountain League (AML) semifinal playoff game at DuBois Central Catholic (DCC).
They couldn't climb out.
The Cardinals-- the No. 1 team in the AML South-- outscored the Lady Wolves in every quarter en route to a 42-26 victory over Kane-- the No. 2 team in the AML North.

Ridgway wrestling defeats Kane on Senior Night

Ridgway wrestling took advantage of seven forfeits to help take a 52-24 win over Kane Thursday night at Ridgway Area High School on Senior Night.
Of the seven matches wrestled, Kane won five on the mat.

Winners are named in Kane Elks Hoop Shoot

The Kane Elks Hoop Shoot was held last Sunday at the Kane Middle School gym.
There were 20 participants overall, each shooting 25 foul shots.  
Winners from each age division are advancing to the District Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Warren Area High School.
If the Kane winner is not able to attend the district shoot, the second place winner has the opportunity to compete. If participants win at the district level, they will move forward to the Elks State Hoop Shoot held in State College March 7.

Kane is runner-up in 7th-grade tourney

Kane finished second in the Seventh-Grade Basketball Tournament held Saturday at the Kane Middle School gym.
Kane defeated St. Marys 45-27 in the opening game before losing to the Elk County Catholic Cavaliers in the title game, 37-38.

The Wolves came out focused and ready to play tough defense.  Starters Jake Alcorn, Aaron Hottel, Caleb Holt, Chad Greville and Joey Walters jumped out to an early 12-0 lead by pressing St. Marys.

Kane has 3 pins in 7 matches wrestled vs. Cameron County

EMPORIUM – The Kane High won three of seven matches wrestled Tuesday in a 55-19 loss at Cameron County.
All three Kane wins came on pins.
The Kane winners include:
160 pounds-- Joey Ferraro pinned Parker Lumley, 1:15.
170-- Jamie Lingenfelter pinned Bryan Boleen, 50 seconds.
195-- Austin Hulings pinned Jacy Langley, 1:58.
Other bouts:
132-- Brandon Saline (CC) won by technical fall over Charles Gardner of Kane, 17-1.

Kane girls rally in second half for 41-35 victory

The Kane High girls basketball team rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit Tuesday to defeat Brookville, 41-35, on Senior Recognition Night.
It was the last regular-season home game for the two Kane seniors-- Taylor Morgan and Emily Truden.
They both were outstanding for the Lady Wolves.
Morgan scored a career-high 21 points and had five rebounds. She made nine of 10 shots at the foul line.
"She put the team on her shoulders," Kane Coach Dave Kiehl said in praising Morgan. "That's what a leader does."

Kane 8th-grade wrestler is MVP in tourney

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Aiden Hulings, an eighth-grader at the Kane Middle School, has been chosen as the Most Valuable Wrestler in a national tournament held here earlier this month.
Hulings is the son of Cheryl and Chris Hulings of Kane.
Hulings of Kane, representing the Kane Wrestling Club and Area V, was handpicked again this year to wrestle for Team Pennsylvania in the tourney.

Kane cheerleaders deliver victory

The 15th Annual Kane Cheerleading Boosters Mid-Winter Cheer Classic took place this past Saturday and Sunday. For the first time since 2010, the Kane Wolves won at their home competition and are Mid-Winter Cheer Classic Small Varsity Champions. They edged out the nearest competitor of Redbank Valley High School by half a point to finish first out of the five teams in their division.

Kane wrestling edges Johnsonburg, 30-24

JOHNSONBURG – Kane wrestling won 30-24 over Johnsonburg Thursday evening at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Only three matches were wrestled on the mat and Johnsonburg won them all, picking up a pinfall and two decisions.

‘Safety’ believed to be reason for Kane forfeit at Brockway

“Safety” is believed to be the underlying reason Kane coach Dave Kiehl pulled the Kane High girls basketball team off the court to forfeit its game Tuesday evening at Brockway.
With 2:39 left to play in the game and Brockway leading 51-32, Kiehl called the Lady Wolves to the bench and declined to continue playing. The loss will go down as a 2-0 forfeit loss, according to sources familiar with the regulations.
