Kane Tornadoes sweep Portville Panthers

October 6, 2014

The Kane Tornado Pee Wees played two games against the Portville Panthers on Sept. 28 and won both contests.
In the first game of the day, the Kane Pee Wees won by a score of 20-12 behind three touchdowns by Dane Anderson. Anderson rushed for more than 100 yards against the Panthers in his big game. Brady Danielson provided the Tornado’s other points when he tackled the Portville quarterback in the end zone for a safety. The Kane coaches were pleased with the team’s play on both sides of the ball, especially Ethan Illerbrun, who had several nice runs and also recovered a fumble on defense.

Lady Wolves rally falls short in 3-2 loss to Keystone

October 5, 2014

The Kane Lady Wolves started out slowly in Saturday morning’s loss to the Keystone Lady Panthers and it cost them in a 3-2 loss in Kane’s Senior Recognition game. The visiting Lady Panthers had several good scoring opportunities during the first half but some nice saves by Kane goalie Daria Huckabone and a couple of shots that ricocheted off of the crossbar had the home team down only 1-0 at the half.

Wolves soccer team celebrates Senior Recognition with 6-1 win

October 5, 2014

The Kane boys’ soccer team honored the teams’ six seniors prior to Saturday afternoon’s game with Keystone. The Wolves sent the Senior Recognition crowd home happy with a 6-1 win over the Panthers.
Kane’s offense had a number of good opportunities to score early, but the shots were either stopped by the Keystone goalie or missed wide. Senior Chris Cummings got the home team on the scoreboard about 10 minutes in when the senior stepped in front of a goal kick, slipped, somehow regained his balance and drilled the ball by the goalie for the 1-0 lead.

Wolves deliver Homecoming win over Rovers

October 3, 2014

Senior kicker Dillon Mattis drilled a clutch field goal with eight seconds left in the game to lift the Kane Wolves to a thrilling 9-7 win over the Brockway Rovers Friday night at Paul R Miller Stadium.
The Wolves’ homecoming game began in a downpour, and both teams struggled to move the ball. Brockway received the opening kick and moved backwards a few yards before punting to the home team. Kane returned the favor as a fumbled snap on second down led to a three-and-out.

Kane earns road win over Brookville

October 3, 2014

BROOKVILLE – "If I had to sum up our match in a word, it would be 'perseverance,'" said Kane head varsity volleyball coach Judy Kessler following the team's road win over Brookville. "The girls never gave up on the match against the Brookville Raiders from beginning to end. We had leads that we kept and leads we gave away but we battled all night long for this win. Sometimes when you get in the hole two games, there's no getting out of it.

Homecoming 2014 – Wolves look to rebound

October 2, 2014

The Kane Wolves look to rebound from last week’s 21-20 loss to the Ridgway Elkers tonight when they take on the Brockway Rovers. A battle of 4-1 teams would always be a big game but throw in the mix that it is the Wolves’ Homecoming game, and that raises the stakes even more.
The Rovers opened up their season with lopsided wins over Smethport, Coudersport and Cameron County before ending their run against the AML North with a hard-fought 33-13 win over Otto-Eldred. Last week, coach Frank Zocco’s team had their record blemished with a 28-17 loss to AAA Clearfield.

"Overall we played a good possession game today," said St. Marys coach Eric Bridges.
"Our reserves played aggressively and helped us to keep possession of the ball," said Bridges.
"Kane impressed me with their 80 minutes of play. We were forced to fight hard for the 50/50 balls," added Bridges.

Wolves soccer drops 3-0 decision to Falcons

October 2, 2014

The Coudersport Falcons came to town on Thursday afternoon and handed the Kane boys’ soccer team a 3-0 loss on the Wolves’ home field. Coach Ernie Chamberlain’s Wolves played well, but just couldn’t find the back of the net despite more than a dozen shots on goal.
Kane’s best chance of scoring early on came when goalie Michael Butterfield made a save and punted the ball way downfield where teammate Chris Cummings caught up to it and redirected it towards the goal. Falcons goalie Michael Chambers batted it away and scooped up the rebound before Cummings could knock it home.
