The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of Kane has donated $1,000 for the iCan program at the Lutheran Home at Kane. This donation, plus others, has enabled the Lutheran Home to purchase six new Apple iPads for use by residents. Taking part in the check presentation at the VFW are, left to right: Jim Wismar, chaplain and trustee for the VFW; Chuck Wilbert. VFW commander; Anna Wismar, Lutheran Home volunteer; Gloria Spangler, information technology director at the Lutheran Home; and Kristin Martonik, a Lutheran Home volunteer who is holding her 3-year-old daughter, Sadie. Kristin and Sadie are representing the K.I.D.S. Day Care program at the Lutheran Home. Information on the iCan program will be given at the Open House at the Lutheran Home on Sunday, Sept. 9. Direct questions and send donations to the business office at the Lutheran Home.
