Arlene “Mary” Donafrio

Mrs. Arlene “Mary” Donafrio, 67, passed into the next life at 5 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was born April 30, 1944, in Philadelphia, to the late James and Arlene Engman Markey.
Mary's family moved to the area when she was very young and lived most of her life here. She was a former secretary and treasurer of the Mission Covenant Church, Ludlow and enjoyed gardening and playing cards with her family. Mary was a machine operator at Long Ind. and was a member of the Sheffield Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary is survived by her husband, Donald “Don” Donafrio, whom she married on Dec. 12, 1987 in Sheffield; one son, Willie Eckstrom and wife Sandy, Ludlow; two daughters, Deborah Bergeron and Amy Morgan and husband John Barnes; five stepchildren, Mary Ann, Carla, Christine, Donald Jr. and Rose Marie; one sister, Karen Cook, Kane; one brother, Paul Markey of Florida; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Happy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sally McCracken; one brother, Steve McCracken; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Ludlow Fire Hall, Saturday, June 18, 2011. No calling hours will be observed.
Memorial donations may be made to Mission Covenant Church, Ludlow.
