Arthur A. Paulson Jr., 82, of 1 Anderson St., Mt. Jewett, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1930, in Mt. Jewett, he was a son of Arthur A. and Emma Mae Smith Paulson Sr. On May 21, 1955, in Mt. Jewett, he married Alice Aderman who survives.
Mr. Paulson had been employed at Dresser Manufacturing and Howes Leather Company. Later, he worked for National Fuel Gas for 32 years, retiring on March 6, 1993.Â He also owned Paulson's Disposal Service in Mt. Jewett for nearly 50 years and drove ambulance for several years.
Art was a member of the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees.Â He also was a member of the International Odd Fellows for many years, serving in several offices. He was a proud lifetime member of the Mt. Jewett Fire Department, Mt. Jewett VFW and American LegionÂ and belonged to the Kaffe Sol Coffee Club. Art was a devoted, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
From1948 to his honorable discharge inÂ 1952, he proudly served his country in the Korean War
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Alice Paulson, are a son, Brad (Cathy) Paulson of Mt. Jewett; a daughter, LuAnn Sanders of Kane; three grandchildren, Misty Sanders of Kane, Christopher (Kristy) Spaich of Lewis Run and Ryan Paulson of Mt. Jewett; five great-grandchildren, Kiersten Slater, Autumn Slater, Madolynn Spaich , Jocelynn Spaich and Russell Heasley.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two sisters, Helen Anderson and Lois Sluga; and a brother, Don Paulson.
Friends and family may attend a memorial service at the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday with The Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Military services will be conducted.Â Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church or to any local charity.
