Betty F. Nelson

Betty F. Nelson, 85, formerly of Wilcox, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys.
Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of Raymond F. and Margaret Eleden Fleming. On July 14, 1958, in Arlington, Va., she married James F. Nelson who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nelson, a homemaker, had worked at Stackpole. She also had been employed as a cook at the former Cherry’s Restaurant in Johnsonburg.
She was a past member of the Wilcox American Legion Auxiliary and had served as a Sunday School teacher at the Wilcox Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are five children, William (Faye) Yonker and Robert (Enid) Yonker, both of Delaware, Wayne (MaryLou) Fowler of North Carolina, Margaret Matson of Ridgway and James (Joyce) Nelson of Wilcox; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother James Fleming; a sister, Margaret Kleizo; and a great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Wilcox on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 11 a.m.
