Betty M. Tramontana

Betty M. Tramontana, 87 passed away peacefully on Monday April 18, 2011 in Olympia, Wash. after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Sheffield United Methodist Church with internment to follow in the Sheffield Cemetery.
Betty was born on May 31,1923 to PJ and Edna Finerty in Sheffield. Betty was married for 30 years to the late Joseph A. Tramontana. She had one son, Chuck, of Olympia, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Donna; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Betty graduated from Sheffield High School then attended/graduated (1946) Clarion State Teachers College, Clarion with a degree in Elementary education and music. Betty taught at various area schools including South Street Elementary (1956-58) in Warren, Riesinger Elementary in Homer City, PA (1961-67), and Ludlow –Kane Elementary from (1967-77). After her retirement she worked for many years at Helen’s Style Shop and Pam’s Dress Shop in Sheffield.
Betty was a member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church and enjoyed being actively involved in helping with the music for holiday services and children’s musical performances for many years. She helped start the prayer room and participated various church activities.
