The Kane Area School District is seeking bids for the possible sale of the former Chestnut Street Elementary School.
The school closed following the 2009-10 school year and the new Kane Elementary School adjacent to the Kane Middle School opened for the 2010-11 school year.
Several education-related agencies now are renting space in the former school along Chestnut Street.
According to a notice from the office of Chris Byham, a Warren attorney and school solicitor, bids for the school must be submitted no later than 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 to the office of School Superintendent Dr. Maryann Anderson.
This deadline is three days before the school board meeting on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the middle school auditorium.
The notice invites "interested parties" to call the administration office at 837-9570 to view the property, which consists of about 7.48 acres.
The school district closed the Mt. Jewett Elementary School after the 2007 school year and has since sold this property to local contractor Brian Sees. He is developing the former school into a multi-tenant residential complex.
