Police at site of collision Photo by Ted Lutz Kane Police Officer Bill Nichols handles paperwork at the scene where a runaway driver-less truck (left) struck an unoccupied truck (right) parked at the rear of a residence at 194 Fraley St. Police said it's "a miracle" that no one was injured in the Friday afternoon crash because the path of the runaway truck crossed busy Fraley Street, a sidewalk and a parking lot where several vehicles were parked.

Family's pet cat shot in face Photo by Ted Lutz Sue Hogue holds her pet cat "Meme" outside her residence at 539 Park Ave. at the corner of Cherry Street in Kane. The small cat is recovering from injuries suffered Tuesday when it was shot in the face. Kane Police Chief Brian Hillard, who is investigating, said he believes the cat was shot with a pellet gun. Persons with information on this animal cruelty case are urged to contact police.

Commentary posted at sign Photo by Ted Lutz The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has erected a sign to warn motorists of the bumpy condition of an eastbound section of state Route 6 roughly between the Colonial Inn in Hamilton Township and Kane Lawn and Garden in Wetmore Township. One irate motorist attached a cardboard sign to the post. It reads: "Well Fix The Damn Road." PennDOT is planning to repair the section of the highway within the next several weeks.

On Saturday, July 24, 2010 The Kane Garden Club Tea and Garden Tour will start at 1 p.m. and will end at 4 p.m. Tickets can be order from Garden Club members or Janet Bard. One of the homes that will be toured is the Conklin Home on 3225 Route #6 West. Dave and Tosha welcome you to their Cape Cod inspired home. Their landscape is full of unique plant material with different color, texture, and alternating bloom times. This landscape includes a unique, diverse variety of evergreen, deciduous, perennial, and annual plant material.

Brenda Emer will be the honorary speaker during the survivor portion of Friday night's Relay for Life program. Emer has been involved in nine of the ten relays held in Kane, and is captain of the West Side Walkers. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is a 24 hour event that will be held at the Kane Area High School track from noon on Friday until noon on Saturday.
