"Component One" video production is complete
Thursday, Aug. 2, was the final day of “Component One” for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Arts in Education Partnership video production project sponsored by the Kane Area School District. Starting on June 19, nine students from the Kane Area Middle School—Eric Tudor, Caitlyn Zampogna, Krisalyn Rhodes, Randilynn Cooley, Nate Eckstrom, Jarod Foltz, Darla Duval, Riana Smith and Greg Foltz— began working on “150 Years of Kane: A Student Journey.” Component One focused on discovering the history of Kane. With guidance from author PJ Piccirillo, students interviewed local residents and historians, visited historical sites and looked at historical newspapers, brochures and old maps. After learning the basics of videography from film editor and producer John Lyons, students took video footage as they did their research. The final product will be a video showcasing the students’ discoveries about Kane along the way. This video will be one of three major projects being produced for Kane’s 150th celebration in 2014. During the next two school years, students will continue working with PJ Piccirillo and John Lyons to edit and complete the final project.
