HAZEL HURST â€“ Don Compton of Hazel Hurst has been re-elected as the chairman of the Hamlin Township Board of Supervisors.
He was chosen Tuesday at the board's annual reorganizational meeting at the township building in Hazel Hurst.
Joni Britton of Bloomster Hollow has been re-elected as the vice chairman of the board. Guy Raught of Hazel Hurst is the third member of the Board of Supervisors.
In other business at the 47-minute reorganizational meeting, the supervisors:
*Re-appointed Julie Graham as secretary-treasurer for the township. Under a 2-percent wage increase for the township employees, her pay climbs from $12.07 per hour to $12.31 per hour.
*Named Graham as the "Right To Know" law officer for the township.
*Retained Scott Powers as the certified operator of the sewage treatment plant in Hazel Hurst. His pay is $250 per week.
*Retained Dick Keesler as the assistant operator at the sewage treatment plant. His hourly pay rises from $11.02 to $11.24.
*Retained the firm of Nichols & Slagle of Moon Township near Pittsburgh as the township's consultant engineer.
*Retained Bradford attorney Dan Hartle as the township solicitor.
*Retained Hamlin Bank and Trust as the township depository.
*Named Dale "Wally" Howard to the Vacancy Board. He replaces Bill Belitskus. The Vacancy Board member takes part in the filling of a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors, if needed.
*Tabled the appointment of members of the Park Board.
*Named Debbie Walker of Hazel Hurst and Heather Ritz of Lantz Corners to fill vacancies on the three-member Board of Auditors. They will be required to seek election to retain their positions. A third seat on the board is vacant. Persons interested in serving as auditor should contact the township office.
