SMETHPORT -- Wetmore Township plans to use $6,165 in county liquid fuel tax revenue for a project to "chip seal" the surface of various roads.
The McKean County Board of Commissioners agreed Tuesday to approve the Wetmore application for county aid for the estimated $30,000 project. All work must conform with specifications set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
In other business at the 15-minute meeting at the courthouse in Smethport, Commissioners Joe DeMott, Al Pingie and Cliff Lane:
*Renewed a maintenance agreement with the Cleveland Brothers Equipment Company of Lantz Corners to inspect and service four backup generators for the county 911 emergency telephone system.
The generators are located at the 911 center on Route 6 near Smethport and at three towers-- including one on Gibbs Hill near Ludlow in Hamilton Township.
The cost for the one-year agreement is $3,518.
*Approved a "memorandum of understanding (MOU)" with five agencies for a program to support military veterans and their families.
The "stake-holders" will work with the McKean County Housing Partnership to coordinate supportive services and housing stability to veterans and their families, according to the MOU.
*Authorized the McKean County Redevelopment and Housing Authority to continue to administer the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
*Approved a maintenance agreement with Karpinski's Office Systems of Coudersport for a copy machine in the Veterans' Office.
*Re-appointed Dick Kallenborn of Port Allegany to a four-year term on the McKean County Planning Commission.
*Approved a payment of $3,112 to the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in Bradford. The payment is the monthly fee charged by the agency for administering the county's Homeless Assistance Program.
