County budget preparations are under way

SMETHPORT – Preparations for the 2013 budget are under way in McKean County.
Joe DeMott, chairman of the county Board of Commissioners, said Monday that the board has been “scheduling meetings” with department heads to look a budget requests for next year.
He said the budget meetings are with heads of the “larger departments,” which will have a major impact on the next spending plan for the county.
In action at the 13-minute meeting at the county courthouse in Smethport, the commissioners:
*Voted 2-0 to enter into an agreement between the county Child and Youth Services (CYS) agency and the University of Pittsburgh for the Child Welfare Education for Leadership (CWEL) program.
DeMott and Pingie approved the action. Commissioner Cliff Lane did not attend the meeting.
*Approved several agreements between the Department of Human Services and various “service-providers,” including the Guidance Center of Bradford.
