David P. Smith

David P. Smith, 55 of, Hemlock Street, Kane, died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at his home following a long illness.
He was born on November 17, 1955 in St. Marys, the son of the late William F. and Jane Krug Smith. On March 8,1986, in St. Leo’s Church in Ridgway, he married Mary Yonker, who survives.
He attended schools in St. Marys and had resided in St. Marys and Eldred before moving to Kane in 2006.
He had been employed by St. Marys Carbon, Molded Materials in Ridgway and later at the YMCA in Ridgway, retiring in 2002 due to poor health. He had also been employed at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Mt. Jewett.  He loved his family, camping, fishing and woodworking, and he loved playing football with his daughters.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tamaran Smith and Karen Smith, both of Kane; two brothers, John (Louise) Smith of St. Marys and Jude Smith of Clarksville, Md.; a sister, Jane (Richard) Dugan of Roulette; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend of the family, Chuck Spliedt of Clarksville, Md.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Carol Meyer; a brother-in–law; and a niece and nephew.
Friends of David P. Smith may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mt. Jewett Seventh-day Adventist Church, where funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Lynn Gatz, pastor, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frame Funeral Home, Eldred.
