Despite woes, college forestry programs survive

October 4, 2012

Photo by Ted Lutz – Dr. Michael Messina (left) and Dr. David Newman (right) spoke Thursday at the Roach-Bauer Forestry Forum at Kane Country Club. Ned Karger (center), the land manager for Kane Hardwood and chairman of the forum committee, presented black cherry Biltmore timber measuring sticks to both guest speakers.

Despite constraints, it appears that Penn State and the State University of New York (SUNY) will continue to offer forest management programs.
