The group includes, left to right, front row: Deborah Lorenzo and Cara Jo Lorenzo; back row: Joel Strandburg, Dylan Gilmore and Michael Swartwood. The first four graduates listed all achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA). Swartwood had the highest GPA among students in the vocational program.

Diplomas were awarded Friday to 60 graduating seniors at the 122nd commencement for Kane High School.
The program at the packed high school auditorium featured the presentation of more than $80,000 in scholarships.
State Senior Judge John Cleland, a 1965 Kane High graduate who has lived in Kane most of his life, delivered the commencement address.
In his remarks, entitled “Unfinished Business,” Cleland told the graduates they are “lucky to have grown up in a small town.”
“You are luckier than you can ever imagine to have grown up in these mountains and among these people—in this very small place in this very, very big world,” Cleland said.
“Have no doubt about it,” he said. “You can go anywhere in this world and compete against anyone in anything you are willing to work hard enough to do.
"I have been amazed at the stories I have heard about kids from small towns-- kids just like you-- who go on to be successful in the military, in business, in government.
“And so, you have some unfinished business.”
Cleland is currently in the national limelight as the appointed presiding judge in the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse case in Centre County.
