Doctor who had Kane office is under investigation

July 17, 2012

Dr. Thomas Radecki

A doctor who until recently had a Kane office is under investigation for several allegations, including trading prescription drugs for sex.
Dr. Thomas Radecki, a psychiatrist who earlier this year opened an office at 55 Fraley St. in Uptown Kane, is the target of an investigation by the state Attorney General's office.
The Kane office now is closed. Investigators obtained a search warrant and explored the ground-level office late last month.
Kane Borough Police Chief Brian Hillard and Kane Police Officer Heath Boyer were asked to "stand by" while investigators conducted their search at the office. Hillard said Kane Police did not participate in the search.
Radecki, a psychiatrist, reportedly specializes in the treatment of patients who are addicted to heroin and pain pills.
The treatment includes the use of a controversial prescription medicine called Suboxone.
It contains many similarities to methadone maintenance treatment, according to a website on the internet.
According to published reports, investigators also searched Radecki's offices in Clarion, Seneca and DuBois as part of the probe.
Investigators also searched his home in Clarion, according to reports.
Criminal charges apparently have not been filed against Radecki at this time.
Radecki is the founder of an organization that has tried to recruit physicians to assist at his drug treatment offices.
According to a "want ad" from the Clarion-based "Doctors & Lawyers For a Drug Free Youth" on the Physicians Employment website on the internet, "we have a growing Suboxone/Subutex treatment program in Oil City/Clarion/DuBois/Kane Pennsylvania and are in desperate need of more physicians to help in providing care to opioid dependent patients in our region."
