Donald E. Whitmore

Donald E. Whitmore, 83, of Grandview Estates in Kane, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Feb. 3, 1929, in Randolph, Vt., he was a son of Oscar and Flava Gordon Whitmore. On Jan. 13, 1951, in Bethel, Vt., he married Barbara Upton who survives.
Mr. Whitmore served in the U.S. Army.
He had been employed as a mill supervisor at Otter Creek but due to a serious accident at work had to retire in 1981.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Barbara Whitmore, is a daughter, Diane (Kirk) Curthoys of Holland, N.Y;  a son, Larry Whitmore of Bradford; three grandchildren, Jamie, Jeff and Justin Spencer; and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Spencer.
He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a son, Dale Whitmore.
Friends may attend a memorial service at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the United Methodist Churches in Mt. Jewett/ Hazel Hurst presiding.
